Why we exist.
Four years of original research kept arriving at the same answer: enterprise AI is failing at the readiness and organizational capability layer, not the technology layer. Most consultants sell a new strategy. Most vendors sell a new platform. Almost nobody is helping leaders put the strategy they already have on AI.
Mindspan Labs exists to close that gap — pairing research-grade frameworks with operator-grade execution. The diagnostic isn’t a marketing tool. The Flywheel isn’t a slide. They’re the working model we use with clients.

The team
We’re testing the operating model on ourselves.
Mindspan Labs is a hybrid team. Two people own the strategy, the judgment calls and the client relationship. Eleven AI agents carry a real share of the operating work: research, engineering, content, bookkeeping, engagement support. Each has a defined role, its own tools, and a human accountable for what it produces.
We built it this way to find out whether our own thesis survives contact with reality. It mostly has, in uncomfortable ways. Nearly every hard problem turned out to be role design, handoffs, accountability or measurement. Seldom the model itself.

Agents do not run client engagements. A human is accountable for every deliverable that leaves here.
Nobody here was replaced by an agent. The fleet is the reason two people can run a firm this size.

Justin Tacy
Principal Consultant
Designs and leads operating models that turn strategy into revenue. He has designed and led them for new and existing business units at Apple, Sony, T-Mobile, Lenovo, Avalara and Mophie, across hardware, software and services. At Mindspan Labs, he diagnoses where operations break down and sequences the fixes, in the right order, which turns out to be the hard part.
